Renting recovery trucks in Dubai
A recovery truck, called a سطحة (satha) across the Gulf, is a flat, tilting bed with a winch. On construction sites it does two jobs: it moves small machines that cannot drive on the road, such as forklifts, compressors, generators and mini excavators, and it recovers vehicles that have broken down or got stuck in sand.
Recovery trucks are hired per trip. The driver winches or drives the machine up the tilted bed, straps it down and delivers it. For machines above about ten tonnes, or anything wide, you need a lowbed trailer instead.
Where to find them in Dubai
Dubai has the largest pool of pickups and tankers in the country. Drivers wait at stands in Al Quoz, Al Qusais and Ras Al Khor industrial areas and around Jebel Ali and Dubai Investment Park, so a truck for a Dubai site is rarely more than half an hour away. Dubai-plated trucks pick up anywhere in the emirate; for a job that starts in Sharjah or Ajman, check the listing's pick-up area first.

A recovery truck for machines up to roughly ten tonnes that fit on a truck bed. A lowbed trailer for excavators, wheel loaders, cranes and anything wide or over that weight.
Can a recovery truck pull a machine out of sand?
Most have a winch strong enough for a car or a light machine. For a loaded truck or a heavy machine you need a heavy recovery unit; say what is stuck when you call.
