Generators for rent in Dubai

Renting generators in Dubai

Generators power sites before the mains connection arrives, run camps and offices, and back up anything that cannot stop. In the UAE they are diesel, usually in a silent canopy, and hired by the day or the month, sometimes with an operator for the larger sets and always with the question of who supplies the fuel.

Size is in kVA. A tower crane, a batching plant and site welding need far more than lights and offices, and starting loads for motors push the size up further. Tell the owner what will run on it and they will size it; an undersized set trips and an oversized one wastes diesel.

Where to find them in Dubai

Dubai has the largest pool of pickups and tankers in the country. Drivers wait at stands in Al Quoz, Al Qusais and Ras Al Khor industrial areas and around Jebel Ali and Dubai Investment Park, so a truck for a Dubai site is rarely more than half an hour away. Dubai-plated trucks pick up anywhere in the emirate; for a job that starts in Sharjah or Ajman, check the listing's pick-up area first.

Sizes and types

• 20 to 60 kVA: site offices, lighting, small tools and a camp.
• 100 to 250 kVA: tower cranes, welding, batching and mid-size sites.
• 300 kVA and above: large sites, multiple cranes and industrial plant.

What to ask the owner

• What is the kVA rating and can it start your largest motor?
• Is it a silent canopy set, and how much diesel does it use at your load?
• Who supplies fuel and who does the daily checks and servicing?
• Are cables, a distribution board and an automatic transfer switch included?
• Is delivery and collection included, and does it need a crane to place it?

Also called: diesel generator, مولد كهرباء, جينريتر, silent generator, 100 kVA generator

Common questions

What generator size do I need for a site?

Add up what runs at the same time, allow for motor starting loads, and add a margin. Owners on Ujrah size sets every day; give them the equipment list and they will tell you.

Is diesel included in a generator rental?

Rarely for monthly hires; the site fuels it, often from a diesel tanker also listed here. Some short daily hires include a full tank.

What is a silent generator?

A set in an acoustic canopy that runs quietly enough for camps, offices and sites near housing. Most rental sets in the UAE are silent type.
